Gravity Run Tips & Strategy
A practical guide to Gravity Run: flip early, read two hazards ahead, cross saws on the side they just left, trust the bolt warnings, and thread needles mid-flip.
Play Gravity RunThe core idea
Timing is decided before the hazard arrives
Gravity Run looks like a reflex game, but most crashes come from flipping too late or landing on the wrong side of the next obstacle. A flip takes a fixed amount of time to cross the tunnel, so the right moment to press is always a little before the danger — and where you need to be afterwards matters as much as what is in front of you.
- 01
Flip early, not late
A flip takes about four tenths of a second to cross the tunnel. If you wait until a spike strip is right under you, you will still be near the floor when you reach it. Flip so you land a moment before the hazard, and you have room to spare.
- 02
Plan two hazards ahead
In a zigzag, the flip that clears one strip puts you on the surface for the next. Before you react to the nearest obstacle, look at what follows it — that tells you whether to flip now, or wait and flip once later.
- 03
Pits punish lazy landings
You cannot land on a pit, so a flip that comes down over a gap is as fatal as rolling into one. When pits sit on the surface you are flipping to, time the flip so you touch down past the red edge.
- 04
Learn each saw’s rhythm
Saws sweep on a fixed, smooth cycle. Watch one full sweep as it comes on screen, then cross on the side it has just left — it will not reverse early. For saw pairs, the second blade moves opposite the first.
- 05
Trust the bolt warning
Bolts appear off-screen to the right, so a flashing orange arrow marks the lane they will travel. The arrow shows up well before the bolt does: move off that lane straight away rather than waiting to see it.
- 06
Thread needles mid-flip
When both floor and ceiling are spiked, the middle of the tunnel is the only safe space. Start the flip a short distance before the spikes so the runner is crossing the centre as it passes them.
- 07
Use restarts as practice
Restart is instant and there are no lives. Treat early attempts as scouting runs: learn the opening, then the middle, then the finish. Most players clear a hard level in chunks.
By stage
How the approach shifts across 18 levels
See the full level guide for what each level introduces.
Levels 1–6
Spikes, zigzags, and pits at gentle speeds. Focus on timing your flips so you land before each hazard, and start collecting stars once a level feels comfortable.
Levels 7–12
Saws and bolts arrive. These are about rhythm and reading warnings rather than raw reaction speed — patience beats mashing.
Levels 13–18
Needles and top speed. Look further ahead, flip earlier, and expect a few attempts per level. Every tunnel is verified beatable.
Going for three stars
Stars sit on a real route through the level, but not always the easiest one — some float mid-tunnel and need a flip timed to pass through them. Clear the level first so the next one unlocks, then replay with the layout memorised. A star only counts once you reach the finish gate, so there is no point grabbing one and crashing straight after.
